I've never posted, but have been a fan of the site for a long time. I've even attended a few meetings/events over the past year.

My wife (Nicole) and I have a 2008 2 door JK and absolutely love it.

Good news: We're having a baby boy in May!
Bad news: The JK is Nicole's daily driver, and I don't think a 2dr jeep is 'car-seat friendly'.

I've had Toyotas in the past, and taken them on trails, but never made an opportunity to go wheelin' in our JK. :bag: And since we started trying to sell, I thought we just better keep her as clean as possible.

I'm hoping MSJ can help out. I'm planning to post our JK on the site and hopefully she'll sell to a fellow jeeper in the area. We'd like to get some type of 4dr SUV for carting around the family AND an older jeep as a 3rd vehicle.

I'm thinking an early 90s YJ 4cyl / 5spd would be a good starting point. Something that is clean and reliable. The idea would be to build a trail-friendly jeep that is an acceptable daily driver. CJ grill, hood, fenders, dash; gm 350/sm465, 35s, etc. are all in the plans.

But priority-one is to sell our Jeep... So on to the classifieds!

don't do it I just had a baby and got one on the way and my boy would rather ride in the jeep than any other vehicle he can see out with the big window and loves it. Plus with the tumble forward passengers seat getting him in and out isn't that hard, (easier if not for the 6" of lift and 35" tires)

:welcome:

Obviously everyone on here is gonna tell you to keep the Jeep, but realistically it's not the best "family" vehicle.

That being said a 4door JK would be excellent, they have tons of room and are still cool.

If you did decide to keep it, the 2 door should have the airbag disable on the passenger side front seat. As long as the kid+seat is less then 50lbs it should auto disable, and make it easier for mom until the kid is old enough to get in and out of the back "mostly" unassisted.

Haha. I'm betting Mason's dad didn't find the rollover quite as entertaining!

Yeah, we really want an older Jeep so we can go on some trails once we're comfortable getting our youngster out and taking him on day trips. In our Jeep, it's just hard to go to the grocery store and buy more than a gallon of milk when there is a carseat in the backseat and a stroller or whatever behind that!

If you want to keep the jeep, keep it and build it as a toy and get a small car with four doors for the wife and kids. The car is just as safe and is cheaper to operate than a big SUV. The small car will leave more room in the budget for jeep parts. And if she is driving the car every day and you destroy the jeep on a trail she will not yell at you as bad because she still has something to drive to the store when she gets home.
