Club Runs
-Spring run will be April 16-18 at Superlift ORV in Hot Springs, AR.
-Go Topless Day will be in May. We are looking into ideas on what the club can do to participate in this national event. For more information go to
www.allthingsjeep.com.
-Camp Sunshine. Last year we had several members participate in this event hosted by Arkansas Crawlers. This event is a ride that benefits burn victim kids directly as we group together and actually give rides throughout Superlift to the kids. Last year we spent half a day with the kids riding. This year they want to do a full day. We will be working with Arkansas Crawlers on this event and hope to have a greater number of people able to participate. More information will be posted as the event gets nearer.
-Annual fall run will be held October 15-17 at Superlift ORV in Hot Springs.
Meetings
We are planning on staggering meetings throughout the area to better accommodate members. We realize that some prefer not to have to drive half way around the world to make a meeting so we plan on hold meetings at various locations throughout the Memphis area. Meetings will be every other month. The plan is to keep meetings during the colder months indoors and as the weather gets nicer move them to various parks so that we as an outdoor based club can enjoy what we like most, the outdoors.
To solve the seating issue there have been various members who have said they have chairs available. For the outdoor meetings we will look for members to bring chairs for seating and should have a table or two available if needed. It was jokingly said, if you want to sit somewhere BYOC.
2010 Budget
Rob went over the budget and we currently are in good shape. Expenses for the year are anticipated to be for food for the Spring and Fall runs, money to finish the trailer, and tools/parts to equip the trailer with.
Membership
As of before the meeting we had 42 paid members for the 2010 year. We had several pay at the meeting. For those new members or existing members who need stickers please PM Charlie and he’ll do what it takes to get you the stickers. For those who paid at the meeting we will have you “greened” shortly.
SAFETY
Steve held a brief “Winch Safety” demo in the parking lot after the meeting.
MISC.
We are constantly looking for more places to ride. During the meeting we noted places such as SMORR, Harlin, Gardendale, as well as others. As the year progresses we will be trying to get more rides to more places, not just to Superlift.
This year for shirts for the club runs we are going to be doing things a little bit differently. We are going to try our hand at using a committee to organize the shirts. We have three volunteers who will be handling this.
Land Use. Some questions were raised about land use. It was strongly encouraged that everyone takes the moment when asked to write a letter or sign a petition or whatever it takes to help keep our trails open. It only take a minute and every person counts. For those wanting to get more involved in Land Use PM Mooseknuckle or go to the Land Use section at
www.pirate4x4.com.
Charity. The question was raised about our involvement with charities. While we are not directly involved with charities we will do what we can to help out. We have chosen not to directly align ourselves with a charity because we are not a “civic club”. We won’t say no if someone needs some assistance so please don’t take it the wrong way that we don’t want to help.
If I missed anything I apologize. Overall the meeting went well. This was the first meeting held by the new officers and we are looking forward to bringing bigger and better things for MSJ in 2010. As such we count on your feedback and opinions on what we can do better and what you want for “your” club.
